Vector Prime, by R. A. Salvatore, is the first in the new run of Star Wars novels, the New Jedi Order. It was published in 1999 by Del Rey Books. From the Publisher: Twenty-one years have passed since the heroes of the Rebel Alliance destroyed the Death Star, breaking the power of the Emperor. Since then, the New Republic has valiantly struggled to maintain peace and prosperity among the peoples of the galaxy. We're also told that all other individuals who have suffered from it have died, though there have only been a few instances so far, and only recently. Mara travels with Leia Organa Solo to meet with Nom Anor, and discovers that he is not affected by the Force.
