Leaders of the Universe:

Now, to get in the spirit of the election, here's a closer look at the lighter side of the leaders of the Star Wars universe:

Queen Amidala: A teenager with a serious hair problem, Amidala condones a course of action that will lead her people to war, and falls in love with a boy four years younger than herself.

Senator Palpatine: An evil dude later known as the diabolical Emperor Palpatine himself. But hey, the guy wasn't all bad, he hired Mara Jade! An interesting note: When he says "Young Skywalker" in Phantom Menace, it sounds exactly like when he calls Luke that in Return of the Jedi.

Mon Mothma: With all of twenty-six and a half seconds on the screen, Mothma has nevertheless become one of the greatest leaders in the New Republic.

Leia Organa Solo: Descendant of Queen Amidala and Anakin Skywalker, Leia was an Imperial senator, then fell for a scruffy looking nerf-herder and was elected Chief of State of the New Republic.

Borsk Fey'lya: He was recently voted most wished to die in the New Jedi Order books on a poll at StarWars.com. Fey'lya is currently the Chief of State in the New Republic, and continues to mess up the Jedi Knight's and everybody's plans to defeat the Yuuzhan Vong.

Well, that's all folks! I'll admit that these descriptions are a bit condensed, but hey! I've got space limitations you know. ;-) See below for who I think should be president. Oh, and no offense was meant in the writing of this story. Sorry if I've slandered your favorite character, but most likely I didn't mean to! Nevertheless, e-mail me with your questions and comments.

Organa Solo 2000:

With the extremely close race between the presidential candidates for the United States still underway, take a moment to look at the just as serious matter of the leader of the Star Wars world. From the Old Republic to the New Republic, we have seen examples of very strong leaders in the galaxy far far away. But the question is: Who should be leading the New Republic now? Forget about Borsk Fey'lya for the moment. This year, vote for Organa Solo 2000!

That's right, The Jade Sabre is an official supporter of Leia Organa Solo for Chief of State of the New Republic. Organa Solo comes from a line of powerful people, and even her foster parents were powerful political figures. She also has a secure family life. Organa Solo is married to former New Republic general, and all time hero Han Solo, and has three children: Jaina, Jacen, and Anakin Solo. She is also a large supporter of the Jedi Knights, being Force sensitive herself, her brother being Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, and even her children are Jedi Knights. If you elect Organa Solo, she will establish a Jedi Council like that of the Old Republic, which will further the protection of the New Republic.

Leia Organa Solo was a key figure in defeating the Empire, she helped found the New Republic, and has also witnessed first hand the beginnings of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion. She believes that she will be able to fight back successfully against this new threat. So this election year, we urge you to vote for Organa Solo 2000, for the good of the Republic.

All right, so it may be far fetched, but I for one would love to see Leia back in the Presidential chair in the New Republic. What do you think? E-mail me with your opinions.

Balance Point and Other News:

This is fairly outdated, but the second novel in the Agents of Chaos duology by James Luceno has been out for some time. It is called Jedi Eclipse, and it is published by Del Rey in paperback. And, just brand new, Kathy Tyers's new novel in the New Jedi Order called Balance Point has recently been released. I'm not sure if Mara Jade Skywalker is on the Dramatis Personae of Jedi Eclipse, so I will not include it on her list of novels yet. I have, however, added Balance Point to the list, and you can see that here. Also, go here to read the prologue for Balance Point. I have also updated the timeline. Oh, an interesting new development at Lucasfilm: there is a new system of symbols signifying the different eras of the Star Wars novels. Go here to read more.
